MEET YOUR GUEST ARTISTS:
Mitch Barrett - Award-winning storyteller and songwriter, Berea native, and National Storytelling Festival performer. Mitch brings his gifts for both music and tales to create an unforgettable Friday evening experience.
Randy Wilson - 5th-generation eastern Kentuckian and legendary square dance caller who's been sharing Appalachian folk songs, dances, and stories since 1988. Randy learned from the old-time banjo pickers of eastern Kentucky and has performed everywhere from the Smithsonian to festivals across the globe. His Saturday evening square dance, called in the authentic East Kentucky style, will be a highlight of the weekend!
Note: I created these price tiers to make the experience accessible to as many folks as possible, and it's based on the honor system. The standard tier was intended for folks who have some but not tons of extra income, folks with two incomes per household, or those who feel that paying this price that allows us to compensate everyone fairly will not cause hardship.
All pricing levels include the same amazing experience - choose the level that best represents your circumstances. Your choice is private and will not be shared.
This weekend is sponsored in part by The Loyal Jones Appalachian Center at Berea College and will take place in beautiful spaces on campus and around town.
Note: Registration fee does not include travel or lodging. See event information page for lodging recommendations.
WHAT STUDENTS ARE SAYING:
"I'm a musician primarily, but you've helped me to feel confident that I can get up and dance to live music without feeling like a fool! And after taking flatfooting workshops at several festivals, for the first time I'm FINALLY putting multiple steps together instead of just trying to do the same couple of steps over and over!" - Erin Mae
"Carla has a great teaching style! You get more than your money's worth - you get to be part of a fun, exciting community of folks having fun, while learning and challenging yourself." - Bruce B.
I can't wait to welcome you to Berea for this special weekend! Save your spot now and get ready for an unforgettable experience of dancing, music, food, and genuine Appalachian hospitality.
See you on the dance floor! - Carla
