"Carla is positive, upbeat, and breaks every step down in a manner that is easily understood. More teachers need to be as positive and encouraging as she is. Carla is honestly one of the best instructors I've ever had."

Hey, I'm Carla...

banjo picker, singer, and die-hard Kentucky mountain dancer, mama to three delightfully weird and musical young’uns, and chief cornbread-maker in my household.

I believe that you can become the dancer you dream of being, and I’ve taken the same journey you’re on, learning steps and figuring out how to “put it all together” in a musical way that perfectly complements the tunes. Over the years, I’ve worked out shortcuts and formulas for how to do that, and more importantly, how to teach that.

It's a privilege to teach, and I feel confident that I can be a great teacher for you for multiple reasons. I'm a musician who can help you get inside the tunes when you dance. I have a MA in Education AND 28 years of experience teaching mountain music and dance, and I know what works! And I'm an 8th-generation Kentuckian who just loves sharing the traditions of my family and community with folks far and wide!

More than anything else, I want to share that with you today. This video was designed to give you exactly what you need to get started on this path
