Kentucky Tour de Dance

Let's take a road trip!

Journey through the beautiful contryside of Kentucky with me, to discover the music and dance hidden in every nook and cranny. This self-paced course takes you on a trip on the back roads of this fair state, to the living rooms and porches of some of my favorite pickers young and old.

While we visit, you'll hear musicians talk about how they got started, and share a tune with us along with info about its source. Then, I show you how I would improv with the tune. Lastly, you get special classes on how to dance each tune. I dig into each tune and unpack it for you, showing you the steps I would use to make the most of dancing and improvising to it.

For graduates of my previous dance programs, you'll see familiar steps but hopefully get ideas about how to use them "in the field". And for students who are new to me, I'll show a basic review of the steps we'll be using at the beginning of each class, so you can get started right away.

You get access to all six lesson packs when you purchase this course. Each pack contains:

  • a video diary of a home meeting with a traditional Kentucky musician
  • a brief interview
  • video of me improvising while musician plays the "new" old tune
  • historical info about the tune
  • a recorded lesson showing my process for improvising to that particular tune and the steps I'd choose to go with it.
